Description:SUMMARY: Under the direction of the physician, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will perform all those duties usually required of a CMA in a clinical/office setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direct supervision of the physician, the CMA will be responsible for assisting patients from lobby to clinic exam room where they will obtain various pertinent patient information (in relation to her training) such as vital statistics, current complaint, as well as, update on current medications and allergies. Will assist the physician with physical examinations, minor procedures, as well as, EKG's and various office testing. Under the direct supervision of the physician, the CMA may prepare and administer immunizations (intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous) following written or standing order procedures. Under physician supervision, educate patients on topics related to their medical conditions. Under the direction of physician and nursing personnel may schedule special testing and referral for patients as ordered by physician, as well as, explain specific instructions for said testing. Attend in-service education as requested. Will be required to learn the receptionist role, to provide coverage as necessary. Performs additional duties as assigned within scope of responsibility. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Obtains a Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited college program. To become a CMA, graduate of an accredited program must sit and successfully pass national certification exam. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certified as a medical assistant by successfully passing the CMA national certification exam. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
