Description
Summary: Responsible for applying principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assists the process in directions which will improve, automate, and streamline current accounting and reporting procedures to maximize the contribution to the overall corporate strategic and business goals.
Provides assistance in improving productivity, make/buy, budget and forecasting measurements and tools.
Maintains inventory valuation.
Assists the preparation and coordination of financial reporting requirements to the IDEX Executive Office, including reporting related to special initiatives such as Six Sigma, Global Sourcing, etc.
Maintains and continually updates knowledge of the Company's product(s) and appropriate operating procedures in an effort to properly and effectively maintain accounting records which reflect the Company's operation and financial results.
Manages property and liability insurance requirements.
Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.
Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
Maintains Fixed Assets, including Construction in Process and preparation of the Depreciation Journal Entry
Plans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
Analyzes audits of costs and prepares reports.
Compiles cost information to be used in operating budget preparation.
Makes estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.
Recommends cost efficiencies in new product layouts.
Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies.
Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
Leads and/or participates in special projects and assignments as required.
Other Responsibilities:
Participates in CPI activities.
Collects data for predetermined metrics.
Participates in cross training.
Applies 5S in area.
All other duties as assigned.

Process Owner's Minimum Requirements:
Education:
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field and CPA/CMA and/or MBA preferred.
Experience:
Four to ten years of progressively responsible accounting and supervision experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in reviewing, analyzing and implementing accounting and financial reporting requirements.
Specific skills, knowledge, and/or licenses:
Excellent oral and written communication skills to work effectively in a team environment within and outside of the Accounting Department.
Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to research and apply accounting pronouncements as appropriate.
Advanced PC/ERP skills with proficiency in worksheet and document software.
Working Conditions:
Regularly required talk or hear, use hands, walk, stand, and sit.
Occasionally needed to lift up to 20 pounds.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use
Ability to travel domestically and internationally
