The Clinical Operations Associate position will be a key contributor to AtriCure’s clinical affairs department to assist in the development, implementation, and execution of multiple key study functions.  The Clinical Operations Associate primary responsibilities include but are not limited to device supply logistics, financial processes (contracts, budgets, and invoices), essential documents, trial master file (TMF), and select monitoring activities.  Responsibilities will vary by study.


  • Assists team as needed in identification, creation, documentation, and maintenance of processes required for conduct of a clinical trial
  • Responsible for set-up of the electronic trial master file (eTMF), assists in collection and quality control of documents, files clinical trial documents, and assists in maintenance and ongoing tracking of documents for expiration and renewal
  • Assists team as needed with the setup of the clinical trial management system (includes eTMF, electronic Case Report Forms, device tracking, and financial components) as well as maintenance of applicable elements within the system
  • Responsible for moving contracts and agreements through the signature process
  • ensures clinical budgets are managed and monies allocated to the trials are spent as budgeted
  • Tracks accruals and creates reports for finance
  • Creates purchase orders, processes payments,as needed
  • Responsible for ensuring the clinical contracts, including the clinical site budgets, are correct and consistent between sites and across studies
  • Participates in the contract quality review process to ensure fair market value across the study, and within the other study documents including but not limited to informed consent forms (ICF) and consignment agreements
  • Assists clinical research associates (CRAs) in performing monitoring preparation activities and potentially assist in select monitoring activities at local investigational sites
  • Participates in project team meetings
  • Participates in departmental development initiatives (e.g. training, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development process/updates)

  • High school diploma or equivalent and some college experience is preferred
  • 1-3 years of relative experience in finance, accounting or administration
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to prioritize and juggle multiple/competing issues
  • Team focused with a High Emotional Intelligence and Awareness is a must 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of the administrative aspects of document management
  • Team-oriented and able to effectively manage/prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases)
  • Ability to create and manage internal and external partnerships
  • Computer/data entry skills
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting experience
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable Experience


  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry desired but not required
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills, processes, and computer systems


  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as required
  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
