A registered professional nurse in the department of medical imaging who is responsible for obtaining comprehensive health information for inpatients and outpatients scheduled in the medical imaging department. This information will assist to develop a plan of care to assure all of the patient’s needs are met to achieve safe and optimal quality of care during patient’s medical imaging procedure. Coordinates care with other departments to effectively and efficiently administer care in a diagnostic imaging setting. Performs treatments, administers medications, and assists with minor invasive procedures utilizing aseptic technique. Is actively involved in educating the patient and family to improve patient health outcomes and appropriately involves them in their plan of care. Promotes a customer service oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers – both internal and external. Demonstrates skills in working with neonates, infants, children adolescents, and adults. Must have strong understanding of growth and development for these age groups. Participates at unit level in the formulation of policy within the field of responsibility. The scope of practice for the medical imaging nurse is diverse and flexible and may include the knowledge associated in providing moderate sedation or anxiolytics, assisting with deep sedation, or circulating with anesthesia, and recovery of inpatient and outpatient populations in MRI, CT, or interventional procedures. Provides customer service for the patients/families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members. Functions as a team player and practices open communication with a positive flexible attitude. Assists in meeting departmental goals by participating in quality improvement activities. Any budgeted position may be required to take on-call shifts and maintain PALS certification in accordance with the departmental policy.
Required: On Call required. Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing and commitment to obtain BSN in Nursing within 3 years of hire. Graduation from an accredited program of nursing. RN Licensure in State of Ohio, CPR, PALS.Good verbal and written communication skills Customer service skills Basic keyboarding skills.
Preferred: BSN in Nursing, 3-4 years of experience, Pediatric experience, experience with sedation.
