Position Summary:

A Transportation Specialist/Router supports daily transportation operations including planning, scheduling manpower, equipment and all clerical duties. This position may be responsible for various types of driver related activities such as driver payroll, routing, driver check in and the monitoring, compliance and performance indicators for driver hours of service.

The work schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday.


Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: 

Responsible for calculating routes and times of deliveries, and makes the necessary adjustments for drivers and customers. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duties assigned to best serve the company.

Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while still maintaining an acceptable level of customer service, quality and satisfaction. Utilize Roadnet application to ensure Delivery costs are held to company expected run rates year over year.

Establish routing procedures and schedules which allow for the optimum use of personnel and equipment while keeping a strong emphasis on driver safety.

Perform Roadnet application routing maintenance daily to ensure all locations have accuracte, timely, and up-to-date information: Standard Routes and Customer Delivery Requirements; Geo-Coding, delivery days, time windows, service time types, service time overrides, account types, meal beaks; Route start times, pre/post trips, starting/ending depot, travel modes, color for mapping, assigned driver, equipment and DOT road checks; Plan Maintenance equipment with regards to costing, restrictions, and capacities.

Perform and provide costing, off-days, maintenance, scorecard, customer and KPI reporting on scheduled intervals.

Perform a recap of the previous days actual routing results and make necessary changes/adjustments to the Standard routes if required.

Perform maintenance on backhaul locations and produce backhaul reporting to logistics as requested.

Make maps and print driving instructions for drivers that are not familiar with the route assigned. Produce driver manifest report and distribute nightly.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of related experience.
• Proficient computer skills, including excel.
• Proficient with Routing Programs, such as RoadNet.
• Knowledge of transportation technology systems.
• DOT compliance/regulations knowledge.
• Ability to work independently.
• Detail-oriented.
• This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
