Job Description

  • Review the schedule to ensure that the proper steel is placed on the pay-off mandrel. Constantly monitor, operate, adjust, and clean the spray and rollcoater enamel application equipment to assure that parameters, standards, and specifications are maintained.  Adjust steel sheet cooling equipment to provide proper spraying conditions.  Maintain and rebuild spray guns and spray gun spare parts supply. 
  • Observe the physical condition of the steel strip to detect defects as dents, roller marks, oil, strain lines, or other unacceptable conditions.
  • Assist with steel changes and sew-in operations.  Monitor, clean, and operate equipment for passage of sew-ins to prevent equipment damage.  The certification and use of a powered forklift or electric handlift is required for pulling inventory, moving materials or equipment, and emptying trash containers.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Gather and discard all scrap material.          
  • Complete time sheets and all required reports/documents on a daily basis. Prepare steel coils for the use on the stripline enamel application process.  Unwrap and inspect new steel coils for defects, damage, or rust.  Peel-off unacceptable or unusable inner and outer wraps of steel.  Weigh, tag, and move scrap steel to specified location.  Record weight and description of rejected steel. 
  • Review the schedule to ensure that the proper steel is placed on the pay-off mandrel.  Set alignment of steel coils on pay-off mandrel and perform or assist with sew-in to the previous coil.  The certification and use of a powered forklift or electric handlift is required for pulling inventory, moving materials or equipment, and emptying trash containers. Conduct weekly steel coil inventory.
  • Inspect steel coil cleaner system when required.  Make adjustments to cleaner to provide proper pH balance and consistent cleaning or de-greasing of steel coils. 
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Gather and discard all scrap material.          
  • Train new employees for any of the job duties . Requirements for talking and hearing functions for daily communication purposes.
  • Requirements to occasionally move, lift, feel, or handle products.
  • Requirements to occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Requirements to stand or sit during, or for, the extent of the shift.
  • Requirements to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Daily exposure to moving mechanical and high-voltage electrical devices.
  • Seasonal exposure to elevated, but not harmful, heat.
  • Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to, but not harmful, fumes or airborne particles.
