The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, including management of the profit and loss statement for the hospital’s business, as well as the related resources associated with the hospital operation. In this capacity, the CEO carries responsibility for integrating the strategic plan of the organization with the operations. Through the Clinical Service Unit structure, the CEO provides oversight for the development of high quality, cost effective and integrated clinical programs within the hospital. The management portfolio held by this leader is notably diverse, with corresponding broad organizational implications and complexity, characterized by substantial scope of responsibility.
Reporting to the Market
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES
- Integrates services into the primary functions of the corporation.
- Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
- Provides for the continuous assessment and performance improvement of services.
- Selects qualified competent department staff to provide quality services.
- Completes performance appraisals on time based on policy.
- Recommends operating and capital budgets and monitors allocation of resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in business administration, or healthcare administration required, clinical background and experience preferred. After orientation, up to six month’s experience on this job is required to perform essential functions. Requires four years or more experience on a similar job or jobs with progressively increasing responsibility in this or another hospital or healthcare facility.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION
None required but preferred for this position.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Broad knowledge in professional area and in rehabilitation and occupational health. Knowledge of regulatory, legislative and TJC standards related to rehabilitation and occupational health.
LANGUAGE AND MATH SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, basic spreadsheets and work with graphics.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENT CARE
Has no responsibility for direct patient care. Assures compliance for all regulatory agency standards.
