SUMMARY:
Provides therapeutic activities under the supervision of a Certified Occupational Therapist. Assists OT with treatment planning to meet stated IEP goals. Records attendance and documents individual therapy activities daily.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Observes students informally in the school setting.
Implements IEP goals.
Assists with program development.
Assists with ordering supplies/materials.
Keeps records of program plan.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSES:
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) must have an Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an approved and accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) must be licensed to practice in the State of Ohio.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) must hold or be eligible for a certificate to practice in the State of Ohio.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on program objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
